ANTAM Supports Decarbonisation by Using Environmentally Friendly Fuel

Jakarta, November 2, 2022 - PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTAM; IDX: ANTM; ASX: ATM), member of Mining Industry Indonesia (MIND ID) – the State-Owned Enterprise Holding of the Mining Industry Indonesia, announces that the Company uses environmentally friendly fuels in the operations and production to support decarbonization. This initiative aligns with the Government of Indonesia’s target to reduce climate change through the Net Zero Emission 2060 program.

ANTAM's Corporate Secretary, Syarif Faisal Alkadrie, said:
“Since 2019, ANTAM has initiated the use of B20 fuel, and this year ANTAM has started to use B30 fuel for mining operational vehicles. The Company also prepared a decarbonization roadmap, in line with ANTAM’s commitment as a member of MIND ID in sustainable operations. ANTAM also implements efficient and environmentally friendly technologies to reduce energy consumption. In addition to energy efficiency, ANTAM prioritizes energy transition and emission reduction, good waste management, and environmental management by applicable regulations.”

Other efforts, including using environmentally friendly fuels, have been carried out by ANTAM to reduce emissions. The Company plans to substitute industrial diesel oil (IDO) with B30 for the coal firing system (CFS), ladle preheating, and hot air generator (HAG) for shot making at the Kolaka Nickel Mining Business Unit. Currently, the process is in the field-testing stage for co-firing usage at the Kolaka Nickel Mining Business Unit Coal-fired Power Plant and its subsidiaries.

In addition, the Company also utilizes solar power by using solar panels to light the mine road area in several business units and providing public road lighting facilities with solar panel technology around the mining area of ANTAM's Gold Mining Business Unit, West Java.

The Company continues to pay attention to environmental management in operational activities. ANTAM is also looking for new renewable energy sources or alternative energy that is more environmentally friendly. The implementation of a periodic monitoring and evaluation system on environmental management to reduce energy consumption is carried out by energy managers and energy auditors certified by the National Professional Certification Agency.
