Jakarta, December 15, 2023 – PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTAM; IDX: ANTM; ASX: ATM), member of PT Mineral Industri Indonesia (Persero) (MIND ID) – the State-Owned Enterprise Holding of the Mining Industry, announced that the Company received nine awards for its commitment to implementing sustainability. On December 8, 2023, ANTAM received four awards from the 2023 Community Development and Empowerment Performance (PPM)/TAMASYA (Mining Improving Community Welfare) Awards that held by the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. ANTAM also received five awards from the 2023 Indonesia SDGs Award (ISDA) on December 4, 2023.
ANTAM Corporate Secretary, Syarif Faisal Alkadrie, said:
“The award received by ANTAM is a form of recognition for the Company's consistent sustainability efforts. The AgroEduWisata Mamalam Program, Kelulut Honey Cultivation, Hydroponic Program, and Processing Waste into Maggots are some of the efforts made by ANTAM to optimize local potential and develop village-owned enterprise (BUM Desa) to improve the welfare of communities around the Company’s mining areas, as well as Individual Local Heroes as a form of Company synergy. ANTAM always encourages communities around the Company’s mining area to find business opportunities by utilizing local potential in synergy with the Company to develop MSEs. Through ANTAM's Social and Environmental Responsibility program, the community can feel ANTAM's presence in the development of the mining area. As part of the SOE Holding of the Mining Industry, ANTAM is always committed to supporting the government in developing micro and small businesses around the Company's operational areas.”
Four awards from the 2023 Community Development and Empowerment Performance/TAMASYA Awards
Through the Kolaka Nickel Mining Business Unit, North Maluku Nickel Mining Business Unit, and Gold Mining Business Unit, ANTAM received awards in the Community Development and Empowerment Planning Performance category. Meanwhile, through its subsidiary PT Gag Nikel, ANTAM won the Community Development and Empowerment Mineral Performance award in the Implementation category at the 2023 Community Development and Empowerment Performance/TAMASYA Awards. For this award, ANTAM was assessed as a mining business entity with good performance in planning, implementing, and monitoring the evaluation of the Community Development and Empowerment program. This award also proves that ANTAM has contributed well to the community around the mining operation area and ensured the continuity of community livelihood until mining activities ended.
The assessment aspect for the 2023 Community Development and Empowerment Performance/TAMASYA Award is seen from the completeness of the documents, including the availability of the Community Development and Empowerment Master Plan documents, Work Plan and Budget, orderly submission of quarterly reports, implementation in the field, as well as the impact on the community around the mine itself. The 2023 Community Development and Empowerment Performance/TAMASYA Award is an appreciation for mining business entities, especially mineral commodity management, who have implemented the Community Development and Empowerment Program well and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Five 2023 ISDA Awards
Meanwhile, at the 2023 ISDA Award, ANTAM, through the West Kalimantan Bauxite Mining Business Unit, received the Platinum Category award for the AgroEduWisata Mamalam program as a sustainable business for communities around the operations area. Additionally, through the West Kalimantan Bauxite Mining Business Unit, ANTAM received a Gold category award for the Economic Empowerment Inspiration Program through Kelulut Honey Cultivation Activities with BUM Desa as an alternative to Conventional Forest Honey Farming. ANTAM won the Gold category award for the Hydroponic Goes to School program through the Precious Metal Processing and Refinery Business Unit. The Precious Metal Processing and Refinery Business Unit also received the Gold category award for the Waste to Maggot Processing program at the Indonesian CSR Award (ICA). The ICA Award was also received by the Gold Mining Business Unit for the Best Individual category through 2 Local Heroes Collaborating for Sustainability.
The ISDA and ICA awards were received for the Company's contribution to community empowerment, increasing business and employment opportunities for the community in the Company's various operational locations. ISDA is an award given to companies contributing to community development and empowerment through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities. The award event held by the Corporate Forum for CSR Development (CFCD) involved 101 companies and 14 people in the individual category.
