Jakarta, December 22, 2016 - PT ANTAM (Persero) Tbk (ASX -ATM; IDX – ANTM; ANTAM) announces it has transferred the non productive assets in Gebe, Central Halmahera, as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility initiative. The transfer was marked by the signing of an agreement by ANTAM’s Operations Director Agus Zamzam Jamaluddin and Central Halmahera Regent Ir. M. Al Yasin Ali, M.T on December 19, 2016. Under the agreement, ANTAM officially transfers its non productive assets to the Central Halmahera Regency Government as part of the Implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility Program.
ANTAM’s Operations Director Agus Zamzam Jamaluddin said:
" The asset transfer reflects the commitment to meet our responsibility in Gebe in accordance to the government regulation. Inline with the Mine Closure Plan of the Gebe mine, we conduct community development and asset management. We hope these assets can be used to the best interest of the public. "
ANTAM’s Gebe nickel mine ceased operations in 2005 and entered post mining stage in early 20016. The Gebe Mine Closure Plan received approval from the Regent of Central Halmahera based on letter number 530/0357 dated August 26, 2013. Activities during post mining stage included, among others, community development and asset management.
The Gebe post mining asset transfer to the Central Halmahera Regency Government was conducted in several stages from 2006 until 2008. On December 19, 2016, ANTAM transferred non productive assets of (1) clean water facilities and supporting facilities, (2) housing of former employees and (3) other buildings within the emplacement area.
ANTAM hopes the assets can be used by the Central Halmahera Regency Government to the best interest of the public. As well, the assets can be utilised to support sustainable development of the communities of Gebe Island district and Central Halmahera Regency Government.
