ANTAM is Committed for Tree Planting Program at the 5,000 Hectares of Kapuas Watershed Region

Jakarta, June 17, 2015 - PT ANTAM (Persero) Tbk (ASX - ATM; IDX – ANTM; ANTAM) announced that the company is committed for tree planting program in the 5,000 hectares of Kapuas Watershed region. The program is part of ANTAM's participation in forest and land rehabilitation program in the Kapuas watershed region in Kalimantan.

ANTAM's commitment was marked with the signing of cooperation agreement with the Directorate General of Watershed and Protected Forest Management (PDASHL) of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. The agreement was signed by ANTAM's President Director Tedy Badrujaman and Director General of PDASHL Hilman Nugroho on Tuesday, June 16th 2015 at Manggala Wanabakti, Jakarta. The cooperation is for the period of five years.

ANTAM's President Director Tedy Badrujaman said:
"The cooperation signals our responsibility in implementing sound environmental management. ANTAM is committed in implementing best mining practices, including tree planting activities, both inside and outside our operations area. We hope this initiative will also assist in the rehabilitation of critical land and increasing carbon absorption. We also hope this initiative will receive support from the stakeholders as to improve and augment the quality of the environment."

The Kapuas watershed region is one of Indonesia's watershed priority region. ANTAM's Bauxite Mining Business Unit is located in the Kapuas watershed region. The tree planting and conservation initiatives are expected to help in the rehabilitation of land and forest in the Kapuas watershed region. As well, the initiatives will also assist in increasing carbon absorption as to mitigate the impact of the greenhouse effect.
