Jakarta, December 29, 2017 - PT ANTAM Tbk (ASX ATM; IDX – ANTM; ANTAM) is pleased to announce it has received 1 Gold Rating, 2 Green Ratings, and 3 Blue Ratings during the PROPER Award 2016-2017 for the sound implementation of environmental management by ANTAM’s business units and subsidiary. The awards, organized by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), were presented by the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia H.M Jusuf Kalla and the Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya at the Vice Presidential Palace, Jakarta.

In 2017, the Gold Mining Business Unit records substantial achievement by obtaining the Gold Rating whilst the Precious Metal Processing and Refinery Business Unit and the Bauxite Mining Business Unit receive Green Ratings. ANTAM’s achievements in obtaining the Gold and Green ratings illustrate ANTAM’s beyond compliance practice on the environmental management implementation standard which is assessed by KLHK. In accordance with the company's sustainability strategy, ANTAM continues to deliver positive impact to the environment as well as the welfare and self-reliance of the community sustainably. "
ANTAM’s 2017 environmental performance showed significant progress over 2016. In 2017, ANTAM received the Gold Rating for the first time. The Gold Mining Business Unit received Gold Rating in the Mineral Mining category whilst the Bauxite Mining Business Unit received Green Rating. ANTAM’s Precious Metal Processing and Refinery Business Unit received Green Rating in Mineral Processing category. In addition ANTAM also received 3 Blue Ratings in the Mineral Mining category for the Southeast Sulawesi Nickel Mining Business Unit, North Maluku Nickel Mining Business Unit and ANTAM’s subsidiary, PT Cibaliung Sumberdaya.
ANTAM’s Gold and Green PROPER Ratings demonstrate the above standard environmental management implementation within and outside the operations area in the accordance with the PROPER criteria. ANTAM’s initiative in improving the effectiveness of the environmental management system is achieved not only through compliance to regulations, but also through additional initiatives such as energy efficiency, reduction in emission, biodiversity preservation and corporate social responsibility. These initiatives have direct impact to the surrounding communities in ANTAM’s operations.
The PROPER assessment ranks companies or entities into 5 ratings: Gold, Green, Blue, Red and Black. The Gold and Green Ratings indicate an entity has exceeded the environmental management government standards. The Blue Rating indicates an entity has met the required standard whilst Red and Black Ratings indicate an entity has yet or has not met the required standards.
PROPER is an industrial assessment program aiming to encourage the industry adherence to environmental regulations. PROPER assessment covers environmental permit, water pollution control, air pollution control, management of toxic and hazardous waste as well as land damage potential (for mining entities).
