Jakarta, March 2, 2016 - PT ANTAM (Persero) Tbk (ANTAM; ASX – ATM; IDX – ANTM) is pleased to announce that the company, together with PT Indonesia Asahan Alumunium (Persero) (INALUM) has formed a cooperation with PT PELINDO II (Persero) (PELINDO) II) in the port development in Sungai Kunyit, Mempawah, West Kalimantan. The port development is linked to Smelter Grade Alumina Refinery project (SGAR) in Mempawah, West Kalimantan. The cooperation was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) among ANTAM’s President Director, Tedy Badrujaman, INALUM’s President Director Winardi and President Director of PELINDO II, Dede R. Martin. The signing took place on March 1, 2016 in Jakarta and was witnessed by Minister of State-owned Enterprises, Rini Soemarno.

ANTAM’s President Director, Tedy Badrujaman said:
"The cooperation reflects the progress of the Smelter Grade Alumina Refinery Project development in Mempawah, West Kalimantan. It will form the basis of a port development study covering financial, technical, operational, commercial and legal aspects."

The MoU signifies the implementation of ANTAM and INALUM efforts to cooperate with third parties, in which the port development will be used in both construction and operation phase. The port is planned to be built in Sungai Kunyit District, Mempawah, West Kalimantan. The port will be located 6 km from SGAR.

Previously, ANTAM and INALUM signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Aluminum Corporation of China to develop and operate a Smelter Grade Alumina Refinery (SGAR). The Aluminum Corporation of China, as a strategic partner, will bring its technology expertise and financing capability to the project. The production capacity of SGAR is estimated at 2 million tons of SGA per year which will be developed in stages and will require 6 million wet metric tons (wmt) bauxite ore feed every year. The annual capacity of the first stage of the SGAR is estimated at 1 million tons of SGA. The construction of the additional capacity of 1 million tons of SGA will commence when the operations of the first phase of the plant is positive. INALUM expects to acquire domestic alumina feed for its aluminum plant through the development of SGAR.
