ANTAM Clarifies News Reports on Mining Activities at Lumajang Iron Sands Mine

Jakarta, 5 October, 2015 - PT ANTAM (Persero) Tbk (ANTAM; ASX-ATM; IDX-ANTM) issues this release to clarify news reports of criminal incident related to sands mining activity (type-C mining) in Pasirian, Lumajang District, East Java. ANTAM would like to clarify that its Operations Production mining license is located 15km east of Pasirian District. As such, ANTAM is not related to the reported criminal incident. ANTAM and its subsidiary, PT Antam Resourcindo (PT ARI) do not conduct mining activities in the area.

ANTAM, through its subsidiary PT ARI, holds an iron sands mining license and does not hold sands mining permit (type-C mining). The iron sands mining license is based on the Regent of Lumajang Decree No.188.45/287/427.12/2010 with an area of 504 hectares located in the Wotgalih Village, Yosowilangun, Lumajang District, East Java. ANTAM is currently in the process of returning the iron sands mining license to the government.

As a state-owned company, ANTAM is committed in conducting good mining practices, covering mine planning, mine operations, minerals processing and post mining, throughout its operations area. ANTAM also conducts environment management and community development in a consistent manner.

ANTAM would like to extend its deep condolences on the incident related to sand mining activity at the Selok Awar-awar village, Pasirian District, East Java. This press release is also issued to clarify media reports which may create erroneous public perception in which the company’ activity is unlawful.
