ANTAM Initiates 500,000 Trees Planting Program At Its Business Units

The initiative program is held in conjunction with today's celebration of Indonesia's Trees Planting Day. Trees planting is also an integral part of ANTAM's CSR activities to rehabilitate its exploited mine sites as well as to preserve the surrounding environment. As well, by planting various fruits, ANTAM also intends to support government's initiative to prevent nutritional deficiency.

During the launching ceremony at Taman Hutan Hambalang, Sentul, West Java, ANTAM's President Director, Alwin Syah Lubis said,

"The launch of this program is not intended solely to preserve the environment. The program also involves planting fruits which may prevent nutritional deficiency within the surrounding community. We also plant varieties that are beneficial for the local timber industry as well as those that start to become scarce."

ANTAM will work closely with other State Owned Enterprises, universities, Forestry Department, Agricultural Department, its employees and the surrounding community to implement the program. The initiative is also held simultaneously at ANTAM's mine sites of Pomalaa (Southeast Sulawesi), Pongkor (West Java), Kijang (Riau Islands), Buli and Gebe Islands (North Maluku), and Cikotok (West Java).
