Jakarta, February 10, 2017 - PT ANTAM (Persero) Tbk (ANTAM; ASX – ATM; IDX – ANTM) is pleased to announce that the company together with PT Smelting (PTS) and PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) have signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding project development of the Anode Slime & Precious Metal Refinery (PMR) Facility Plant. The MoU was signed by ANTAM’s President Director Tedy Badrujaman, President Director of PT Smelting Hiroshi Kondo and President Director of PT Freeport Indonesia Chappy Hakim. The Director General of Mineral and Coal of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Bambang Gatot Ariyono witnessed the signing which took place on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Pullman Hotel Jakarta.
ANTAM’s President Director, Tedy Badrujaman, said that:
" The MoU with PT Smelting and PT Freeport Indonesia reflects our commitment to increase our shareholders’ value. The MoU is also one of the initiatives to develop and enhance the Company’s fundamentals notably the gold business segment. "
Under the MoU, ANTAM, PTS and PTFI agree to form partnership in supporting the establishment of anode slime processing and precious metals refinery by ANTAM. The refinery will process anode slime obtained from PTS’ smelter as well as from the planned smelter of PTFI.
ANTAM continues to optimize its gold sales through various innovation initiatives such jewelry products combined with gold with batik motif. ANTAM also continues to expand its gold market, both domestic and export market. Recently ANTAM formed partnership with Pos Indonesia to use 109 post offices in Java, Bali, Madura, West Nusa Tenggara dan East Nusa Tenggara as the sales, payment, and distribution partner of ANTAM’s precious metal products.
