ANTAM And PT LEN Industri Sign MoU To Provide Solar Energy Facilities For The Communities

Jakarta March 31th, 2010 - PT ANTAM Tbk (ASX-ATM; IDX - ANTM) is pleased to announce that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with PT LEN Industri (PT LEN). The basis of the MOU with LEN is to provide solar energy facilities as part of ANTAM's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.
 


ANTAM's President Director Alwin Syah Lubis and Wahyudin Bagenda, President Director of PT LEN signed the MOU today in Jakarta. Also present during the signing ceremony was the Expert Staff of Small Business Partnerships Division for the Minister of State Owned Enterprises, H. Ir. Gumilang Hardjokoesoemo, M.Sc.
 
ANTAM’s Director of CSR & General Affair, Denny Maulasa said,
 
“The MOU is part of ANTAM's strategy to contribute actively in the development of the surrounding communities by providing electricity supplies in remote areas. With the signing of the MOU, we expect the synergy between ANTAM and PT LEN will help to build harmonious relationships with the stakeholders.” 
 
ANTAM and PT LEN will cooperate in providing small scale solar power facilities in six villages in Eastern Halmahera, North Molucca.
 
The facilities will generate electricity for public facilities, such as government offices, schools, religious facilities, community health centers, and street lighting.
 
ANTAM expects the program will cost Rp1.4 billion, which includes feasibility studies, installation of solar powered generators as well as socialisation on the use and maintenance of the facilities. PT LEN will appoint its subsidiary, PT Surya Energy Indotama (PT SEI) to conduct the program.
 
PT LEN is an Indonesian state owned enterprise with its main business in the electronics industry. PT LEN has an extensive experience in the development and installation of solar power plants. The MOU also marks the commitment of  two companies to augment the synergy among Indonesia  state owned enterprises.
