Jakarta, December 15, 2022 - PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTAM; IDX: ANTM; ASX: ATM), member of Mining Industry Indonesia (MIND ID) – the State-Owned Enterprise Holding of the Mining Industry, is announcing that the North Konawe Nickel Mining Business Unit appointed as a National Vital Object (Obvitnas) in the mineral and coal sector through the Decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 270.K/HK.02/MEM.S/2022 concerning the Third Amendment to the Decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 77 K/90/MEMILIKI/2019 concerning National Vital Objects in the field of energy and mineral resources, dated 22 November 2022.

The establishment of Obvitnas will support the continuity of ANTAM's operations and production activities that apply good mining practices.”
With the appointment of North Konawe Nickel Mining Business Unit as Obvitnas, the security aspects of mining areas, especially in the Mandiodo Block, Lasolo, Lalindu, are strengthened by government regulations, including Presidential Decree No. 63 of 2004 concerning Security for National Vital Objects, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation No. 48 of 2018 concerning Determination of National Vital Objects in the Energy and Mineral Resources Sector, and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree No. 77 of 2019 concerning National Vital Objects in the Energy and Mineral Resources Sector, which has been updated with Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree Number 270.K/HK.02/MEM.S/2022.
Based on Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation No. 48 of 2018 concerning the Determination of National Vital Objects in the Energy and Mineral Resources Sector, Obvitnas is determined if an area/location, building/installation, and/or business that concerns the livelihoods of many people, state interests, and/or sources of state revenue that are strategic for the state and society whose security needs to be maintained to support economic, political stability and national resilience.
North Konawe Nickel Mining Business Unit is one of ANTAM's business units that manage nickel mining located in North Konawe Regency and has a Production Operation Mining Business Permit area of 23,133 hectares (ha). With solid nickel resources and reserves, in line with the Company's mining business plan, ANTAM supports the Government's efforts to increase the added value of nickel ore through domestic downstream development to provide greater socio-economic benefits for the country and community.
