Jakarta, January 16, 2013 - PT ANTAM (Persero) Tbk (ASX - ATM; IDX - ANTM; ANTAM) is pleased to announce the unveil of fruits production center in Nanggung distric, Bogor regency.
The event was started with tree planting ceremony by ANTAM’s CSR & General Affairs Director, Denny Maulasa and Bogor Regent Rachmat Yasin in January 16, 2013.
The Fruit Center Development Program is part of ANTAM’s Corporate Social Responsibility Program to empower the economy of local community as well as natural conservation in the surrounding area of ANTAM's gold mine in Pongkor, West Java.
As the initial implementation, ANTAM has planted 25,000 fruit trees in 2012. The plantation were carried out in 3 villages, Malasari Village, Cisarua Village and Bantar Karet Village, in the Nanggung district, Bogor regency.
This program is in cooperation with the Institute of Management (IM) Quantum that has expertise in community development and the cultivation of fruit trees. IM Quantum will provide assistance in planting method, planting maintenance and training in cultivation for farmers.
Types of fruit trees planted are Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana), Avocado (Persea Americana), Crystals Guava (Psidium guajava) and Malay apple (Syzygium malaccense).
The fruits were selected based on its suitability to the environmental conditions in Nanggung district. In the future, ANTAM is planned to expand the number of plants and planting sites, as well as the community involvement.
