ANTAM Donates Rp30 Billion For Corporate Social Responsibility Programs In Southeast Sulawesi

Jakarta, August 20, 2010 – PT ANTAM (Persero) Tbk (ANTAM; ASX - ATM; IDX - ANTM) is pleased to announce that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) with the Provincial Government of Southeast Sulawesi. The MoU was signed by the Governor of Southeast Sulawesi H. Nur Alam, SE and ANTAM’s President Director Alwin Syah Lubis today in Jakarta.

The basis of the MoU is to provide Rp30 billion of CSR fund to implement strategic CSR programs such as free health and education facilities, development of economic infrastructures as well as capacity building programs for the communities in Southeast Sulawesi, especially for the communities surrounding ANTAM’s mining operations. The CSR programs will be evaluated on regular basis.

ANTAM is committed to implement CSR programs in its operation areas. ANTAM’s past and ongoing CSR programs in Southeast Sulawesi include disbursement of soft loans to 1,365 business partners through the Partnership Program, training of rice plantation utilising System of Rice Intensification (SRI) method, conservation of the Bajo cultures as well as environmental conservation such as planting of mangrove trees, and construction of public infrastructures such as health facilities, schools and religious facilities.
