ANTAM Sends Personnel And Logistics To Wasior, Mentawai And Yogyakarta

Jakarta November 5, 2010 - PT ANTAM (Persero) Tbk (ANTAM; ASX-ATM; IDX - ANTM) has sent voluntary teams and logistics to aid victims of the flood disaster in Wasior, West Papua; the tsunami disaster in Mentawai Islands, West Sumatera; and the eruption of Mount Merapi in Yogyakarta.

ANTAM has sent the ANTAM Taskforce for Natural Disaster Preparedness (TTSBA ANTAM) team of Emergency Response Group (ERG) and paramedics to help the evacuation efforts.  ANTAM’s TTSBA team is also providing electricity generators, food, and medicine.

ANTAM’s Director of General Affairs and CSR , Denny Maulasa, said:
“On behalf of ANTAM’s management, I would like to extend our sincere condolences to all of the victims of these horrible tragedy in Wasior, Mentawai and Yogyakarta. May God give you the strength and courage to bear this tragedy.”

ANTAM’s TTSBA team arrived at Wasior, West Papua on October 15, 2010 and stayed until November 2, 2010. In Wasior, ANTAM’s TTSBA team worked closely with other teams under the coordination of the Ministry of State-owned Enterprises. Meanwhile, other TTSBA team helped the victims of the Mentawai tsunami since October 27, 2010 under the coordination of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. ANTAM’s TTSBA team is also helping the victims of the eruption of Mount Merapi in Yogyakarta since November 1, 2010.

ANTAM has donated Rp820 million on supplies to aid the victims in Wasior, Mentawai and Yogyakarta.

ANTAM continues to help the victims of the Mount Merapi eruption as the eruption has intensified recently.

ANTAM’s assistance is part of ANTAM’s active participation in corporate social responsibility efforts.

ANTAM’s own mining operations and exploration areas were not affected by the disasters.
