Jakarta, December 9, 2013 - PT ANTAM (Persero) Tbk (ASX - ATM; IDX - ANTM; ANTAM) is pleased to announce the company has planted 50,000 mangrove trees at critical areas in Tanjung Burung, Tangerang, on Saturday, December 7, 2013.

The activity was a joint event of ANTAM, Green Transformation (Trashi) Foundation, Perum Perhutani and mangrove farmer's groups in the northern coastal area of Tangerang. The Trashi Foundation will support ANTAM in providing the seeds, trees planting and nursery. The cooperation will also call for community involvement and will be carried out in six months.

The mangrove trees planting aims to rehabilitate critical lands to reduce the environmental damage as well as to build public awareness of the deforested area.

Tanjung Burung is located within the area of Perum Perhutani Land Management Unit III Bogor and is an important ecosystem for water birds. The damaged land in the Tanjung Burung area is alarming and the adverse risk to the mangrove ecosystem in the area may increase due to the risk of coastline abrasion.

In the event, ANTAM planted Avicennia sp and Rhizopora sp. Mangrove tree is well known to prevent abrasion of coastline. Mangrove forests in the northern coastal line in Java have decreased in recent years, including those in the Tanjung Burung, Tangerang, Banten.

ANTAM has consistently conducted natural conservation programs. In 2012, ANTAM planted 1.4 million trees with 2013 target of 1.5 million trees.
