Jakarta, July 12, 2010 – PT ANTAM (Persero) Tbk (ANTAM; ASX-ATM; IDXANTM) announces the company's reaffirmation of good mining practice. ANTAM reaffirms its commitment following concerns from some of the local residents at the proposed iron sands mine of Lumajang, East Java. ANTAM conducts its mining activities with proper concern of environmental sustainability. ANTAM’s environmental management follows guidelines of the Environmental Impact Analysis (AMDAL) and Mine Closure Plan (RPT). ANTAM also takes into consideration local cultures and implementation of community development programs.

ANTAM has ceased iron sands mining since 2004 and the remaining mines are operated by ANTAM’s subsidiary, PT ANTAM Resourcindo (PT ARI). PT ARI is currently applying for a Production Mining License and AMDAL. PT ARI is committed to incorporate feedback from local stakeholders including the community members and local government, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. PT ARI may continue the development of the Lumajang mine but will undertake such action if the mine is economically feasible and PT ARI has incorporated feedbacks from local stakeholders.
