ANTAM Signs EPC Contract Of Ferronickel Plant Line-4 As Part Of The Pomalaa Ferronickel Plant Expansion Project

Jakarta, February 6th, 2013 – PT ANTAM (Persero) Tbk (ASX – ATM, IDX – ANTM, ANTAM) is pleased to announce the signing of the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract of its ferronickel plant line-4 relating to the Pomalaa ferronickel plant expansion project. The US$102 million project will be built by an unincorporated consortium of Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. and PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk. ANTAM expects the project to complete in 27 months.

Inline with the development of the ferronickel plant line-4, ANTAM will shut down the operations of the 17MW furnace no. 1 of the FeNi I ferronickel plant. Following the shut down, ANTAM will replace furnace number 1 and operate the 38MW furnace number 4, which also includes the operations of the line-4 equipment such as the 260 tons per hour rotary dryer and the 90 tons per hour rotary kiln. These facilities will serve as the ore preparation and calcination facilities for furnace number 4.

ANTAM's Pomalaa ferronickel plant expansion project is previously known as the Modernisation and Optimisation of Pomalaa Ferronickel Smelters-Development of Pomalaa Coal Fired Power Plant (MOP-PP) project. The project aims to increase the efficiency and productivity of ANTAM's ferronickel plants and comprises of 8 packages: Package 1: Jetty & Facilities, Package II: Belt Conveyors, Package III: FeNi Plant-1, Package IV: Ladle Furnace, Package V: Ore Preparation & Calcination, Package VI: Electric Smelting Furnace, Package VII: Oxygen Plant and Package VIII: Development of 2 x 30MW coal fired power plants.
