Jakarta, December 11, 2013 - PT ANTAM (Persero) Tbk (ASX - ATM; IDX - ANTM; ANTAM) announces today the company has signed an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract of Oxygen Plant No. 5 of the Pomalaa Ferronickel Plant Expansion Project. The EPC contract was signed with an unincorporated consortium of Daesung Industrial Gases Co. Ltd. Korea and PT Koin Konstruksi Indonesia. The EPC contract costs US$11 million with estimated completion in the first half of 2015. Funding for the project comes from ANTAM’s corporate bonds issued in 2011.
The development of the 825 Nm3/h (O2) Oxygen Plant No. 5 with oxygen purity of 99.6% aims to increase the capacity of oxygen supply for the production of high quality low carbon ferronickel.
The development of Oxygen Plant No. 5 is package VII of the US$573 million Pomalaa Ferronickel Plants Expansion Project (P3FP). As at end of October 2013, ANTAM has spent Rp1.33 trillion for the P3FP.
P3FP consists of 8 packages, namely Package 1: Jetty & Facilities, Package II: Belt Conveyors, Package III: FeNi Plant-1, Package IV: Ladle Furnace, Package V: Ore Preparation & Calcination, Package VI: Electric Smelting Furnace, Package VII: Oxygen Plant and Package VIII: Development of 2x30 MW coal fired power plants.
Following completion of P3FP, ANTAM expects annual ferronickel production at Pomalaa may increase to 25,000-27,000 TNi from previous production levels of 18,000-20,000 TNi with the assumption of 1.9% nickel ore feed.
