Jakarta, November 23rd, 2010 - PT ANTAM (Persero) Tbk (ANTAM; ASX - ATM; IDX - ANTM) today launches an initiative to plant 10,000 trees at the Village of Nagrak, Cibubur, Bogor Regency. ANTAM’s General Affairs and CSR Director, Denny Maulasa, the Rector of the University of Trisakti, Thoby Mutis, the Director of Forest Seed of the Ministry of Forestry, Bejo Santosa, the Acting Assistant of the Deputy of Empowerment of Community Institutions of the Ministry of Environment, Jo Kumala Dewi, the Director of Center for Entrepreneurship, Change and the Third Sector (CECT) of the Trisakti University, Maria Radyati and about 500 elementary, junior and high school students were present during the ceremony.
The initiative is part of ANTAM’s cooperation with Trisakti University’s CECT, the university’s arm of community empowerment and development institution. ANTAM and CECT Trisakti, together with the surrounding communities will begin to plant 10,000 seeds with economic values.
ANTAM’s CSR & GA Director, Denny Maulasa said:
"The exercise is one of ANTAM's community-based CSR programs in the environmental management. We hope our initiative will further support the empowerment of the communities as well as the government’s one billion tree program in 2010."
ANTAM will plant various type of trees, including industrial crops, cover crops, and fruits. The initiative, themed "Greening The Earth" is also part of ANTAM’s target to plant 550,000 trees in 2010.
ANTAM also distributes seeds to schools, Islamic boarding schools and the surrounding communities.
The initiative reflects ANTAM's efforts in nature conservation. The exercise is a regular, annual event which is held throughout ANTAM’s operations area.
