Jakarta, September 30, 2024 - PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTM), or ANTAM, received an award for its achievements in implementing Good Mining Practice (“GMP”) from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (“GMP Award 2024”). ANTAM obtained 17 awards through its business units and subsidiaries for implementing Good Mining Practice in the mining technical management aspects, mining safety aspects, mining environmental aspects, and mineral conservation aspects.
ANTAM Director of Operations and Production Hartono said that the awards given to ANTAM are a form of the Company's commitment to carrying out mining operations responsibly by complying with the rules of good mining practice and operation excellence by prioritizing sustainability.
“As part of the Mining Industry Holding MIND ID, ANTAM continues to strive to manage Indonesia's mineral resources by implementing operational compliance to provide optimal returns for stakeholders,” Hartono said.
At the GMP Awards 2024, through the Gold Mining Business Unit, ANTAM receives three Utama awards in mining technical management, environmental management, and mineral conservation. In addition, the West Kalimantan Bauxite Mining Business Unit received two Utama awards in the mining technical management and mining safety management and two Pratama awards in the environmental management and mineral conservation aspects.
North Maluku Nickel Mining Business Unit received three Pratama awards in mining safety management, environmental management, and mineral conservation. Meanwhile, Kolaka Nickel Mining Business Unit won the Pratama award in the environmental management category.
Three ANTAM subsidiaries, PT Gag Nikel, PT Sumberdaya Arindo, and PT Nusa Karya Arindo, also received the GMP Awards 2024. According to Hartono, this is part of the implementation of Good Mining Practice in sustainable mining operations, which ANTAM and its subsidiaries carry out.
“It is ANTAM's responsibility to continue implementing sustainable mining by prioritizing ESG aspects in all lines of operations. This does not only apply to ANTAM's business units but also its subsidiaries,” he added.
Hartono also said that the GMP Awards 2024 motivated ANTAM and its subsidiaries to continue to improve the Company's responsible operational management.
“The implementation of good mining practices is to fulfill not only obligations but also a form of ANTAM's commitment as a mineral resource Company in managing the environment and improving the welfare of the community, especially those around the operating area,” he concluded.
